The Carver Public Library is open 6 days a week:  Monday 10-6, Tuesday 10-8, Wednesday 10-6, Thursday 10-4, Friday 10-4, and Saturday 10-2.

Southwick’s Zoomobile – Thursday, June 30 at 1:00 p.m. Kick off summer reading while you visit with some cool animals right at your own library! An educator from Southwick’s Zoo will cover a range of topics about animal ecology, behavior, and conservation during this live animal presentation. Sponsored by the Carver Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Read Beyond the Beaten Path – The 2022 Massachusetts Statewide Summer Reading Program at the Carver Public Library begins June 30th with a visit from Southwick’s Zoomobile, then continues through August 12 with a ton of fun programs. Rock out with Toe Jam, be amazed by Dream Tale Puppets and charmed by the stories of Through Me to You, all sponsored by the Carver Cultural Council. Storytimes, watercolor classes, nature journaling, playgroups, crafts and reading therapy dogs will be offered weekly, in addition to special events like a camping party, a Stranger Things escape room, an early education meet & greet with South Shore Community Action Council, candy bar bingo and a special visit from author Alec Carvlin. All events are free due to support from the groups mentioned above, as well as the Carver Public Library, the Massachusetts Library System, the Boston Bruins and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. Watercolor Workshops – Mondays, July 11 to August 8 at 4:30 p.m. – Explore different watercolor techniques in this workshop series for all skill levels. Come to one or come to all; each one-hour class is unique and open to drop-in for ages 4 and up.

Toddler Storytime – Tuesdays, July 5 to August 9 at 10:30 a.m.  – Join volunteer reader, Sarah Hewins, for stories, songs and activities.

Storytime – Wednesdays, July 6 to August 10 at 10:30 a.m. – Join us for stories, songs and related activities.

Play with Pathways – Thursdays, July 14 to August 11, 10:30 a.m. – Meet members of the Silver Lake Pathways Program as you play games and make new friends. A great opportunity for ages 4 and up to drop-in and learn how to take turns, strategize and have lots of fun in the process!

Nature Journaling – Thursdays, July 14 to August 11, 2:00 p.m. – A 5 week course in creating a nature journal. From making eco prints and covers to collecting and preserving specimens, participants will be using hot irons and advanced techniques, so they must be age 9 and up.

Morse Code Bracelets – Tuesday, July 5 at 6:30 p.m. – All ages, drop-in.

Toe Jam Puppet Band – Thursday, July 7 at 1:00 p.m. – Everyone’s favorite band is coming back to Carver! Whether you’re a long-time fan or looking for a new groove, you won’t want to miss this fun and zany performance, sponsored by the Carver Cultural Council.

Bubble Painting – Saturday, July 9 at 11:00 a.m.– Ages 3 and up, must register.

Grab & Go Bat Caves – Tuesday, July 12 beginning at 10:00 a.m. while supplies last – All ages, drop-in to grab a take-home craft.

Dream Tale Puppet Theater: Alice, or the Red King’s Dream – Friday, July 15 at 2:00 p.m. – This show isn’t just for children! Adults will also be mesmerized by the artistry and skill of master puppeteers as they create an otherworldly experience based on the works of Lewis Carroll. A true delight for the senses, sponsored by the Carver Cultural Council.

Early Ed Meet & Greet – Tuesday, July 19 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. – Meet some local child care providers to find your options for Fall— bring the kids! Camping Party – Saturday, July 23 at 11:00 a.m. – Ages 3 and up, please register. Games, crafts and related activities all celebrating the joys of camping!

Pajama Storytime – Tuesday, July 26 at 6:30 p.m. – All ages, drop-in.

The Upside Down Escape Room – Friday, July 29 at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 30 at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m., Monday, August 1 at 1 p.m., 3 p.m. or 5 p.m. – A Stranger Things escape room! Register as a group or join others. These challenges are not too easy, so most group members should be age 9 & up.

Through Me to You Puppets – Wednesday, August 3 at 10:30 a.m.– Welcome Newton and his gang for a special puppet storytime! You will fall in love with Leigh and her friends as they tell stories and interact with your young ones. Sponsored by the Carver Cultural Council.

Design a Pinwheeel – Saturday, August 6 at 11:00 a.m.– Ages 4 and up, must register.

How to Bake a Universe – Tuesday, August 9 at 6:30 p.m. – Join us as we welcome Alec Carvlin, author of the new star-reviewed book, How to Bake a Universe. Mr. Carvlin will be reading and signing his book, answering questions and engaging children with an art activity. Mr. Carvlin is visiting through his own generosity of spirit and we are very grateful for this wonderful opportunity.

Candy Bar Bingo – Friday, August 12 at 1:00 p.m.– Entry fee of one candy bar per player, all welcome. Let’s end this summer on a sweet note!

The Book Club at the Carver Public Library – 3rd Wednesday of the Month – 2:00 – Large Meeting Room
The book club meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 2:00 pm in the Small Meeting Room.  Everyone is invited. Please call the library with any questions – 508-866-3415.

Movie Matinee –2nd Tuesday of the Month – 1:00 – Large Meeting Room
Join us at the library on Tuesday, July 12th for Death on the Nile which is rated PG-13. This is a free event, everyone is invited, and refreshments will be served.
